Discover Traction in Transition
Align Your Core in Chaos
Navigate the Mystery
Stillpoint is a ministry of personal wholeness, meditation and giving back to the community.
As a retired priest, I have spent my life working with people through difficult, as well as ordinary, transitions in life:
Core Transformation is one of our tools and does not require a particular belief system to be effective. It works equally well with agnostics, atheists, the spiritual or the religious.
I wish I had these Core Transformation skills years ago in my personal life and ministry.
Core Transformation is non-invasive, gentle and kind.
Helping people make transitions in life
I invite you to schedule a free consultation with me on this website to see if Core Transformation might be for you to discover or re-discover inner resources that are needed in life’s many transitions.
Core Transformation is a guided conversation with our inner selves
CT recognizes inner resources to resolve issues
CT is gentle and respects our deepest wishes
CT usually produces immediate and measurable relief
Stillpoint is an invitation to sustainable peace and profound engagement with the community where you live.
At its heart, Stillpoint is a resource of guided exploration through a process known as Core Transformation.
I am a certified Core Transformation life coach.
Over the years, I have discovered that giving back to the community and meditation by themselves were not enough to maintain an ongoing sense of inner peace and purpose.
Thomas Merton coined the phrase ”still point” to point towards an inner state of accessible joy, and peace that isn’t dependent on any outcome or end result.
Hence the name Stillpont, a profound engagement of service in your community and sustainable peace.
The Apostle Paul used the phrase the “peace that passes understanding.”
You may call that inner resource, enlightenment, joy, oneness, wholeness or maybe just “okayness”.
Whatever phrase you use, it is something that is not dependent on anything else.
Perhaps you already have a community to do meditation, or perhaps you are already actively engaged in service to your community. Carry on with that noble work.
If not, I invite you to consider joining our community of meditation and service. I especially invite you to explore Core Transformation as a resource for ongoing wellbeing and purpose.
Core Transformation has been a life changing tool that has revolutionized my life.
No longer am I a wound-up, semi-retired priest in the Episcopal Church running after elusive goals of achievement and success.
Core Transformation has allowed me to come home to myself.
I can be present with my family and friends and enjoy long walks with my dog. All the while I am deeply engaged with the homeless community and other community organizations.
Core Transformation is gentle and non-invasive and if nothing else most people find it relaxing. Core Transformation is non-sectarian and recognizes the wisdom in all spiritual traditions or no-spiritual tradition..
Meditation is foundational for a healthy spiritual life, both individually and communally.
I have always been impressed that Jesus carved out time to be alone in silence as he was going about changing the world.
This also seems to be the lesson that Elijah learned thousands of years ago when he found God in “utter silence” on Mount Horeb.
You are invited to join our community of Centering Prayer and lectio divina weekly on Zoom, or quarterly in person at the Maria del Mar Catholic Retreat Center in Santa Cruz, CA.
If you are already giving back to the community, please don’t feel any pressure from Stillpoint to drop the good work you are already doing to join us.
I have been working to support and advocate for the unhoused for 16 years, and founded the Association of Faith Communities while I was rector at Calvary Episcopal Church.
I am still on the board of the AFC and am so proud of the shower ministry, the SafeSpaces parking ministry and the Rotating Shelter programs that have been sustained for many years.
Stillpoint provides socks, clothing and bagels with lox with eyeball-to-eyeball distribution.
Many experiencing homelessness know me as Father Joel or the Bagel and Socks guy.
Building rapport and relationships with the unhoused is such an essential component of the more transactional work of providing meals, beds and hygiene.
Please explore the opportunities through Stillpoint to join us or invest in us through the donation of socks or clothing.
We also depend upon financial commitments.
Or perhaps you would like to explore the resources of inner wisdom through Core Transformation.
