Hello Dear Friends,
The meditators this week at the Clock Tower (on the left). We begin about 1:45 pm with meditation, after socks, lox and bagels Come join us!
Along the way to and from the Clock Tower I met an old friend and a new friend. Kevin, seated on his chair in the San Lorenzo Park (in the middle) had recently moved from San Diego to Santa Cruz with his wife. He is my neighbor and I have noticed him enjoying his cigar and chair in the park several times. As I got to know Kevin, I was delighted when he agreed to help me distribute socks. Kevin was once homeless in San Diego and has experienced some radical transformation from those earlier days. Between his wife, his surfing and his cigars, he wants to give back to the community.
Lito, playing drums on the right, was well known to the Monday Night Coffee House at Calvary Church. Several times we found it necessary to invite Lito and the Santa Cruz Police to have a conversation about comportment and behavior at the Monday Night Coffee House dinner. This week, with a smile, Lito volunteered to stop playing his drums during our meditation. Lito seemed to take it all in quietly from a distance as we lingered in10 minutes of “Clock Tower” silence.
- Come join us this Saturday 9/10 at the Clock Tower at 12:30pm when we will be back again with socks, bagels, lox, and meditation. Most importantly we will be validating life, all created in the image of God. I always come away with a sense that God is profoundly at work in me and my many unhoused friends. Also, we appreciate any clothing items you have to donate, or if you would like to support us financially in our bridge-building ministry contact us at Stillpoint: Joelmiller@stillpoint.world or (831) 419-8290or https://stillpoint.world
