Hello Dear Friends,
Last week my journeys up and down the San Lorenzo River began at he 11thHour Café with Mayor Fred Keeley. I was honored that he would meet with me in his busy schedule and set a time to join Stillpoint in distributing “ Socks and Lox” at a later date. I was struck to learn that the mayor also walked the San Lorenzo encampment before it was dismantled a couple times a week when he first became Mayor of Santa Cruz.
Later that week I also met Dylan, who didn’t want his picture taken. Dylan stood out because he was cleaning up around his campsite and beyond. I feel his story should be told.
Lastly I met Dalton who was so appreciative of the socks and bagels that he wanted to give me $20. I told him that the bagels and socks are a gift from the many in Santa Cruz who want to show compassion to those who are living on the streets and invited him to join Stillpoint next time when we go up and down the San Lorenzo River. His story should be told as well.
Maybe he will join Mayor Keeley and me at a future distribution of “Socks and Lox.”
