THIS WEEK AT STILLPOINT

October 9, 2023

Hello Dear Friends,

Our next retreat is soon, October 18th at Villa Maria del Mar from 9am to 3pm.

As always, we endeavor to experience God-- talking “about” God is always secondary. This month we will explore the “experience” of awakening to God, or if you prefer awakening to the universe.  RSVP so our hosts can prepare the delicious and healthy lunch that they always serve. Lunch is $20 and Stillpoint appreciates donations to cover printing and preparations.

One Butterfly Flap at a Time

Lox, socks and lots of clothes.  T

he best part in my journeys up and down the San Lorenzo River this week was running into an old friend who has been living on the streets for over ten years.  Many of you know Danny. He has known the vicissitudes of being unhoused, even though he is well connected with a family and a son living here in Santa Cruz. He knows the experience of being in and out of shelters and rehab over the past10 years.  But this time was different. Danny was kind and polite, as always, but he was noticeably clean shaven and well groomed.  He had a glint in his eye. I think that glint was hope.  He had just gotten out of a ninety-day program and his case worker was helping him find employment and a place to live.

I have hope that Danny is part of a “butterfly effect” that will bring healing and wellbeing for himself and his family that his wellbeing radiates out to the entire Santa Cruz Community.

Back at the Clock Tower

Join us this Saturday 10/13 at the Clock Tower at 12:30 when we will be back again with socks, bagels, lox, and meditation.  Most importantly we will be validating life, all created in the image of God.  Be assured of our gratitude for the bags of clothing from the St. John’s Helpful Shop and the Villages Episcopal Community in San Jose.

We always welcome more donations if you are able to provide us with clean clothing. Also a special thanks to the AFC for the socks that they provide and the subsidy they give to help cover our bagels, lox and cream cheese.  The same bagel that we distribute is sold at the Baglery for $11. I should also give a shout out to the Baglery for free bagels and a wholesale cost for cream cheese. We appreciate it all.  If you’d like to support us financially in our bridge-building ministry contact us at Stillpoint: Joel@stillpoint.worldor (831) 419-8290 or https://stillpoint.world.
